Edgewater Lobby and Fireplace

Oil on canvas, 48 X 48, framed

In the central area of beautiful lobby of the Edgewater Gulf Hotel was the massive fireplace, tapering to the ceiling.  Wrought iron doors and decorative trim embellished the lower area, and designs were painted on the chimney which tapered upward through the ceiling.  By the time I was born, the painted designs on the chimney were darkened by heat, so I cannot recall them.

When the hotel was torn down, it was rumored that the person who salvaged the fireplace was going to install it in an establishment in Atlanta, but I never could verify that it was done.
