The Ramp

Oil on canvas with painted frame, 48 X 38

Technically, this was the location of the front entrance of the hotel, located on the north side.  Cars drove through the covered area, where guests were met by bellboys who escorted them to the registration desk inside.  Hallways leading to the guest rooms were also on this side of the hotel, looking down on the sunken gardens below.  All the guest rooms faced south, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and the spacious lawn.

I loved the colorful, tiled doorways, and many of my paintings are bordered by my impressions of tile.
