Warm Memories: Our Home near the Hotel

Oil on canvas

A memory from a rare snowfall.  It was December, and a Santa on the door reminds me.  There was a fire in the fireplace, and the warm feeling returns, in spite of snow on everything.

When mom and dad moved to their retirement home on Wire Road, I painted this composition for their new house.  It came back to me when they both were gone.

The house is still there, and looks much the same.  Built to last a long time, the interior walls were plaster on copper lathe, floors of colorful Mexican tile, and two beautiful marble fireplaces.
